GDC: PS3 Keynote breakdown

To kick off the GDC this morning, Sony held their Keynote speach. Lots of cool info dished out, but it's long. So, here's a list of the important facts to walk away with.

PSP:

Coming Before Christmas:
- GPS reciever
- Macromedia Flash Browser
- Camera attachment
- WiFi Videophone

PS3:
- Full PS2 backcompat
- Full BD support
- Legacy SD to FUll HD support
- Latest HDMI
- Broadband net connection
- Wireless connections
- 60 GB HDD standard
- Final controller redesign released soon

PSN (PlayStation Network):
- Service starts at launch
- "Open internet" philosophy
- Worldwide network
- Collaberating with Sony Online Entertainment (MMOs)
- 3rd party game servers can be integrated
- Account created though user registration (single log-on)
- Lobby/Matchmaking
- Score/Rakning
- Voice/Video chat
- Sell online content
- Game applications launch from HDD (no disc required)
- Multiple payment methods (for content)
- Free service

Looks like they've let the cat out of the bag. Their online system is sounding amazing, especially for free. Let's hope they can keep their promises. For more info (I'm skimpy here), check Joystiq's article in Source.
